Community Internships

Medical Clowning You are unique with your own talents and interests. Our community internships are designed for you. We have developed an extensive array of community internships to choose from to maximize your individualized learning experience.

Our Community Internships will:

  • Give you hands on training and field-work in your area of interest
  • Allow you to learn from experts in their field
  • Develop your organizational skills
  • Nurture your leadership abilities
  • Provide a vehicle for you to make an impact on Israeli society
  • Give you the tools to return to your communities as an invaluable asset

Here is a sampling of some of our exciting internship options:

Kedma Medical Clowning – Graduate from Kedma's medical clowning school and bring smiles to the faces of many sick children. You will learn the art of how to bring joy to the pediatric department.

Jerusalem Post – Learn about journalism from the professionals. Investigate issues, create a buzz within the community, mix with the locals, and write articles for the leading English-speaking Israeli newspaper.

Ethiopian Initiative – Become a madricha for Ethiopian youth. Work together with Israeli staff to create dynamic programming to engage the youth and develop their Jewish Identity.

Alyn Children's Hospital – Discover the art of play therapy, to bring joy to a physically disabled child.

One Family Fund – Partner with One Family to provide support to families affected by terror. You will be paired with a family to assist on a regular basis. You will have an incredible opportunity to impact other peoples' lives.

Makom Balev – Work with the Israel Center's youth club in Bet Shemesh, Makom Balev. Work closely with Israeli madrichot to develop weekly chugim, shabbatonim, tiyulim, holiday programs and much more. Interns will have a wonderful opportunity to develop relationships with local Israeli teens while working for NCSY in Israel.

Magen David Adom – Gain hands-on experience while assisting in giving first aid and emergency care and experiencing "real life" in Israel. MDA provides emergency services throughout Israel and works with its volunteers to provide effective immediate medical treatment.

Horseback Riding Therapy – Work in a beautiful stable on a moshav close to Bet Shemesh. Be trained to assist teachers in administering therapy to children with disabilities and those who need a boost of self esteem.

Organic Farming – Get your hands dirty with the soil of the Holy Land. Learn how to garden organically, while discovering the benefits of many herbs and plants.
